Good books tell the truth, even when they’re about things that never have been and never will be. They’re truthful in a different way

#heforshe is a reminder that my thoughts are only legitimate if cis men agree with me.

YES you put it into words! I couldn’t figure out why I felt weirdly uncomfortable with the speech/the reaction to it.

At BKBF yesterday someone said some of the best feminists they knew were [cis] men. I recoiled so hard I got whiplash.

My anti feminist cousin applauded the speech, saying it was what feminists should strive for. I don’t know if anyone gave her the memo, but plenty of feminists have spoken out about men’s problems. Feminism already is what Emma was stating it is, she didn’t say anything we haven’t heard before from other feminists.
Almost everyone I talk to about feminism, whether they think they are one or not, absolutely has to mention men’s issues. I think I’ve spent more time validating my views with men’s issues than I have even had the opportunity to speak about women’s issues.
And also a dude at a party told me he considered himself a feminist but thought men should be involved… And then proceeded to rate every girl at the party from 1 to 10.

A lot of the time it isn’t the media that’s wrong, it’s people who read headlines and assume what the rest of the article is going to say.
So many people take articles way out of context/don’t get what it’s saying and then complain that the media is lying to them. Far out.
